SHAC Meeting Minutes #2 2019-2020
November 18, 2019

The second 2019-2020 SHAC meeting was held on Monday November 18, 2019 starting at
6:00pm in the high school teachers lounge. The Avery Vision/Mission Statement was read. Minutes from
the last meeting were read which included: Hearing/Vision/Spinal screenings, student EKG clinic, Flu
Shot Clinic, Traumatic Injury Procedure, Zombie Run, CATCH Theme 1, and floor was open for discussion.
Hearing/Vision/Spinal screenings are being completed, The Student EKG clinic was held and over
50 students had EKG’s, 75 Flu Shots were given at the Flu Shot Clinic, The Zombie run changed to a
Zombie walk due to weather conditions, HS SHAC students will help with Handwashing teaching next
month.
Dana Jean with the DSHS-Clarksville presented information on E-Cigarettes and Youth. They
presented to our students on November 12 th .
The Traumatic Injury station, training, and procedure was discussed. Stop the Bleed training was
held for our staff on November 14, 2019. An application was put in for the Avery Education foundation
to purchase the bleeding control kits, an additional AED, and AED cabinets. We also discussed looking
into purchasing the Bleeding Control Kits for buses.
The Spring Health Fair was discussed. We will have it again this year during open house. We will
have vendors come to set up and have volunteers to help with sign-in and door prizes.
CATCH- The CATCH kickoff week was in October. We will now be starting Theme 2 of the CATCH
program.
The floor was open for discussion.

The meeting was adjourned and the next regular SHAC meeting will be held Monday January 27, 2020 6-
7 pm in the high school teachers lounge.
