Students from Avery High prove again to be highly successful in a recent trip to the State BETA convention at Adam’s Mark Hotel in Dallas. On the weekend of January 11th, eighteen students from Avery participated in the 50th annual convention which included electing state officers as well as participating in academic and talent competitions.
Highlights of the weekend included three Avery students advancing to National competition in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina this June. John Thornsberry placed third in the science competition. Both Chad Hernandez and Brittany Brock placed third in art competitions, pencils and colored pencils respectively.
Any student that attended the state convention is eligible to go to the national convention with those who are qualified to compete. BETA students have already expressed a resolute excitement about raising funds and making a road trip this summer. Watch for the opportunity to support these students on this endeavor.
