SHAC Meeting Minutes #2 2016-2017

November 28, 2016

The Avery SHAC had the second meeting of the 2016-2017 school year on November 28, 2016 at 6:00 pm in the high school library. Minutes from the last meeting were given which included; Lice presentation and protocol reviewed, upcoming events in the semester (epipen training, EKG for students, CPR training for staff, hearing/vision screenings, flu shot clinic, hand-washing teaching with elementary students, and wadley angio screenings), Proposed wellness policy was reviewed and Wellness Plan development was started, new ideas discussed included SHAC students taking a hospital tour and health related updates being sent through dojo and remind apps.

The CATCH kickoff week was October 31-November 4. We are still in theme 1 and theme 2 will start when we get back from Christmas Break. Theme 2 and the theme 2 checklist was discussed as well as the individual tasks were discussed.

Several High School SHAC students helped with hand-washing teaching with the elementary students.

The Avery AED protocol with physician oversight was discussed.

The Avery Concussion protocol with physician oversight was reviewed. Concussion 101, a Primer for Kids and Parents- video was shown.

The Wellness Plan worksheet was completed and will be sent to Administration for review and finalization.

The floor was opened up for discussion and the spring health fair was discussed. The possibility of having some booths in conjunction with the spring open house was suggested.  Possible AED placement closer to the playground was discussed and will be further looked into.

The meeting was adjourned and the next meeting was set for Monday January 30, 2017 at 6:00 pm in the high school library.
