Welcome Back

by Sue Jackson

July 26, 2010

The 2010-2011 school year is rapidly approaching, and I am excited about teachers and students returning. Custodians and maintenance workers have worked diligently this summer to mow, paint, clean, wax, and replace flooring in preparation for our new year. A contractor has been working on the grounds to eliminate our drainage issues when we have heavy rains. All in all, it has been a very busy summer. Students and parents are invited and encouraged to attend our back to school night on Thursday, Aug. 19, 6:30 - 7:30 P.M. to see what has been accomplished over the summer as well as meet your child's teacher. There have been staff changes due to retirement of faculty members and movement of teachers around in the district. As we begin our new year, we are going to be faced with new challenges, but with Bulldog pride and tenacity, these challenges will be met "head on". As our mission states, Avery ISD commits to engage in 21st century learning while cultivating positive growth in social, emotional, and behavioral attitudes in our students. You are invited and encouraged to become involved in one of our C3 committees as Avery ISD strives to become a Level 5 district and Avery Elementary strives to become a Level 5 campus. If you are not familiar with C3 committees, please come visit with me and find out about our systemic process. We, as a team, can better prepare our students to become leaders in the 21st century through this systemic process. I challenge you as a parent/guardian to get involved and be a part of what is happening at Avery ISD and Avery Elementary.
