Welcome Back!

Welcome back as we prepare for the new school year. We have a lot to take pride in as a new year begins. The 2009-2010 school year was one in which Avery ISD committed to a systemic approach that has begun a process in which community members can become actively involved. In addition, a new mission statement has been developed and implemented: to engage our students in 21st century learning while cultivating positive growth in social, emotional, and behavioral attitudes. This mission focuses our thinking and will drive our instruction. Today’s students are powered up, on-line, and connected to a global society. AISD will meet the needs of these 21st century learners by embracing and utilizing technology in the classroom.
Our mission extends far beyond technology in the classroom. 21st century learners must know more about the world, be sensitive to other cultures, have good communication skills, and have the ability to work in teams. Our mission speaks to addressing all the needs of all of our Avery students.
Please come and visit and take a look at our accomplishments and our commitment to improvement. Gym bleachers have been repaired, a new bus has been purchased, and our drainage issues are being addressed. Summer work continues with the remodel of our high school bathrooms, new floor coverings, and fresh paint.
I hope you will be actively involved this school year. We will refocus our commitment to our C3 committee process, and would invite you to serve as a committee member and lend your voice to our mission. Please continue to visit this web page for upcoming announcements, updates, and information.
