One hundred twenty- five people turned out for a Saturday morning breakfast on April 18th to participate in an ongoing process that will define the values, set the mission, and shape the culture of Avery Independent School District.
Community members, students, and staff members enjoyed a free breakfast of pancakes, bacon, sausage, orange juice, and coffee. Prior to the breakfast a brief presentation outlined a process of change that included the sharing of AISD belief statements that the community was asked to consider and discuss. The We Believe statements are listed below, and we invite community members to be involved in a “Community of Learners.”
In conjunction with the breakfast, AISD also awarded the first annual Living Legacy award. Congratulations to Mrs. Irvelyn Hardman who received the award. Mrs. Hardman has played a major role in helping build a relationship between school and community, and we are proud and grateful for her service.
Thanks to all who attended and are supportive of our endeavors. Together “we” can be the difference.
Listed below are our AISD belief statements:
WE BELIEVE:
- Students learning styles vary. AISD will insure multiple methods of instruction are implemented with emphasis on classroom relevance and calculated risk taking.

- Everyone should be empowered to have an active voice in the learning community.
- Change is recognized as an opportunity for the growth of new ideas.
- The learning climate should be one of mutual respect whereby everyone can express their opinion.
- Everyone must be involved to achieve student success.
- All stakeholders should be held accountable for the success of every student.
