IT’S BEEN A GREAT YEAR!! I WANT TO WISH EACH ONE OF YOU A SAFE AND HAPPY SUMMER VACATION!!!!
For the weeks of May 19-29, our class will be reviewing favorite books that we have read this year!!!
*****Your child will have a reading book to read each night. Please keep up with these books. The books will be returned after each unit. You will be charged for the book, if it should become lost. Please take at least 20 minutes to let your child read the assigned reading.
Our class will be responsible for making a 90 or above on our Vocabulary test in order to earn privileges to Movie Day every six weeks. We have earned our Six Flags tickets, but the students are still reading for A.R. points. At the end of the school year, they will be able to spend their points at the Library gift shop.
Vocabulary words have now been sent home to learn. Your child is responsible for 4 new words weekly. Talk about the words daily at home. A new list will go home every week. When we have completed 10-20 words, a vocabulary test will be given. You will be notified when your child needs to study for the test. These words will help enhance and build a better vocabulary for your child.
In Math, we are enjoying hands-on experiences with our new C-Scope Math curriculum. We will be working on place value, all + math facts.
We are working hard on our penmanship. We will be reviewing all letters the rest of the year.
In English, we are working on long i, o, and following directions.
In Social Studies, we are using our C-Scope curriculum and textbooks. We will be studying about people’s need. On Fridays, in Social Studies, we will be using the Clarksville Times for Current Events. We use our Weekly Readers for the latest news in the world.
It will be an exciting year in First Grade. I hope you will enjoy it as much as we will in our class. Thank you for this opportunity to have your child in my class this year.
