Fall Semester Syllabus and Grading Policy

Syllabus

 

                    Students will learn to describe and analyze a piece of artwork based on the Principles and Elements of Art.

 

                    They will be exposed to the vocabulary of art critique, art processes, and art history.

 

                    Students will experience a variety of studio experiences, exploring as many diverse media as time and resources allow.

 

 

Art Class Grading Policy

 

 

For each 6 weeks:

            3 Test Grades consisting of written art critiques or other relevant information        

                       

            2-3 grades each week

                        1 will be based on your actual art project

                        1 may be an in-class written assignment or report

                        The other will be based on class participation/performance (grade points will be based on participation, “clean-up responsibilities”  and class attitude. Points will be deducted for failure to clean up workspace and/or supplies-loss of supplies or waste of supplies such as breaking pencils, tearing up and throwing eraser bits, destruction of blending stumps, rulers, etc.) Supplies and tools cannot be removed from the classroom without permission of the principal. Removing some items from the classroom without permission can result in ISS or suspension.

Test Grades = 60% of six week grade

Daily grades= 40% of six week grade
