Lesson Plans

Nov 11- Dec 16

Nov 11-Nov 22

Students use the formula to calculate the circumference of a circle and generate formulas to calculate the area of a circle and the volume of a cylinder. Students will discuss the patterns in a table of data and in graphs that represent different relationships. Students will explore scaling by investigating patterns in tables and graphs.

Nov 23- Nov 29

Students will use square tiles to build concrete models to represent terms in an arithmetic sequence. Patterns in tables of data and graphs representing different arithmetic sequences will be discussed. Students will develop rules for arithmetic sequences (with a constant rate of change) and find the nth term in arithmetic sequences.

Nov 30- Dec 16

Students will explore equivalent ratios and develop proportional situations and different ways to solve proportional problems. Patterns in tables of data and graphs representing different proportional relationships will be discussed. Students will explore scale factor, unit costs, the constant of proportionality (k, where y = kx), and percents in proportional situations.
